This is where all those disgrunteld people go to when they talk about "another day in the salt mines."

Basically the way the salt mine works is that salty water bubbles up from the spring (the green stuff on the left), and cascades down a series of collecting pools. The water evaporates as it makes its way down, and the salt crystallizes in the process.
