Reed Crop
Lake Titicaca

A bumper crop of reeds. Somebody's homes will stay afloat for another month.

Seriously, the reeds apparently do get waterlogged after a while, and new layers of reeds constantly have to be piled on top of the old ones to keep the islands afloat.

Also, since the islands are free floating, sometimes they float a bit too far away -- and have to be towed back by by power boats.
