This rather gruesome mural commemorates the brief war between Bolivia and Chile. And although in this scene the Bolivian soldier (in red) triumphs over the Chilean, in reality Bolivia lost that war. And in the process, Bolivia lost its access to the Pacific ocean when Chile annexed its coastal territory.
